        You might look at leaf.sourceforge.net.. Can do anything from booting
from write protected floppy, to compact flash, to CD-R... I've deployed it
several places, and it works well.. I use Bering.. It's using a 2.4.x
kernel (up to .20 currently), and is under active development..
