Hey t,

The file doesn't need to be labeled with .wmf, but could also be .jpg, 
.gif, etc...  I wouldn't imagine it would be tied to a particular 
mime-type either.
All is has to do is trick the browser, client, or other Windows app to 
render it.  (If I'm not misinformed).
