Freedom Not Fear Madrid, 11 September 2010 - Access Info Europe is participating in the European Action "Freedom Not Fear" with a street action to raise people's awareness of increased surveillance and data retention.
The action will also inform the public that Spain is one of the most secretive countries in Europe with a state secrets law approved in 1968 by General Franco which has never been repealed and no access to information law. Spain's draft access to information law is still secret and the government has not replied to requests from civil society to know more about the adoption process. For more information on the International Action Day "Freedom not Fear 2010 - Stop Surveillance Mania!" see http://www.vorratsdatenspeicherung.de/content/view/372/55/ The Freedom not Fear movement is demanding: 1. Cutbacks on surveillance measures 2. Evaluation of existing surveillance powers 3. Moratorium on new surveillance powers 4. Ensure freedom of expression, dialogue and information on the Internet For more information see www.access-info.org/en/council-of-europe/108-freedom-not-fear-2010 Best, Helen _________________________ Helen Darbishire, Executive Director Access Info Europe, <http://www.access-info.org> www.access-info.org mobile tel: + 34 667 685 319 e-mail: <mailto:helen at access-info.org> helen at access-info.org Skype: helen_darbishire Twitter: @Access_Info, @helen_access -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
