Dear Toby

Thanks for this. We are reaching an important milestone! We have a lot of
amazing achievements to celebrate as well as plenty of challenges still ahead
of us.

It seems to me that everyone will be wanting to do stuff in their countries on
International Right to Know Day itself, but maybe we could get either a global
or regional meetings in addition.

One way to do it would be to link to another big civil society gathering (for
example, International Anti-Corruption Conference in Brasilia in the Autumn) or
some upcoming Open Government Partnership event (I think there will be some
regional gatherings). Might be more attractive to the funders.

Linked to that, we could consider starting to make a theme for each
International Right to Know Day like they do for World Press Freedom Day, eg:
access to information and corruption, access to information and open data,
access to information and the financial crisis, access to information and
health, etc. ....

Otherwise,

- A higher class video than last year ? everyone contributed and it was
great last year for ?600 but we could do better with more money

- Some really nicely designed materials and as you suggest a publication.

All sounds good!

Helen

Subject: [foianet] 10th Anniversary

Hi all,

As many of you are aware, this 28 Sept. will be the 10th anniversary of
International Right to Know Day.

I would like to kick off a short brainstorming about possible ideas for FOIAnet
to celebrate this event. Of course many things will be dependent on funding,
but let's kick around some ideas first (and then worry about getting the funds).

A few very general ideas, which hopefully others will embellish or replace
with better ideas:

1) A major event somewhere, or a series of regional events in different
places.

2) Some sort of publication (perhaps with commemoratory vignettes over
the 10 years or highlights by year or something)

3) A promotional item - probably a video - again with the 10 year theme
running through it.

OK, over to all of you.

The Steering Committee will then discuss the ideas and try to come up with a
practical plan and a proposal for funding it.

Best wishes, Toby
