Dear FOI colleagues,

Please visit the link
http://soros.org.mk/dokumenti/parite-i-politikata-ang.pdf and you will find
enclosed the analyses "Money and Politics" (2012, Annual Report -
Transparency of Political Party Financing).

This analyses summarizes the findings of the project team, as well as the
opinions of relevant experts and political parties. The analysis was
published in January 2013 and is currently being widely disseminated. This
analysis has shown that there is a need of significant efforts by all the
political stakeholders in order to achieve a functional mechanism for
political financing. The current situation points at moments that concern us
but still shows that improvements are possible. Hence, Foundation Open
Society -Macedonia and Transparency Macedonia will continue to actively
monitor the political parties financing in 2013 (with focus on the local
elections this month) and to contribute towards the achievement of greater
transparency and publicness.

The analysis is a result of the project titled "Transparency of political
party financing". This project has been developed as a result of current
needs for transparency and accountability in the financing of political
parties as elaborated in the latest GRECO recommendations. The goal is to
increase the level of transparency and accountability; hence the process of
funding of political parties is continuously monitored and analyzed through
the use of the right to free access to public information.

We remain at your disposal for any further information and kindly appreciate
any comments you might have.

Best, Dance
