I just called Adelphia to see if they were doing anything different. They
rep I talked to really didn't have much for answers. There was no hint in
this conversation - as I mentioned there had been in my conversation with
mint - that this was something they feel any responsibility for. Oh well!
Guess we'll be keeping an eye on it and consider switching if it becomes too
annoying.

I've just jumped ship, to Midmaine Communications. Our dial-up account was
just set up today, and I haven't had time to change my E-mail
configurations. (The "@ptfolkschool.org" adrress will still work.) I've
had the same experiences with MINT as Jill and Cynthia, including a big
increase in spam. Like Cynthia, I had just figured that the spammers had
finally caught up with me, but maybe it is connected with the Adelphia
takeover. MINT/Adephia, by my count, has had 4 day-long outages in the
past couple of months, and the last one, on Saturday, pushed me over the
edge.
I've had a good experience (so far) working with Midmaine in setting up DSL
for the Forest Society of Maine, they're local, and an MIdmaine unlimited
dial up account with 4 mailboxes is $6/month cheaper than Adelphia, if you
pay 6 months in advance -- so I thought I'd give it a try. Even if the
service is good, I still worry about them being bought out by a larger
company, like happened to MINT.
