I mostly lurk on this list, but I'm happy to see the recent surge in interest
at the level of goals and plans, and to see Ian's willingness to take the time
to articulate what he's trying to do, and how he's going about it. It does
take time, but ultimately it saves time to get everyone "on the same page".
My reason to emerge from lurking is to encourage completion of the 'Standard
Smalltalk' project. I think it would be a gem, and a practical artifact as
well. I think that it's worth a lot in terms of credibility if you can produce
such a practical gem "with one hand tied behind your back," as it were (ie,
very easily). It's also worth 1000 words in terms of explaining that you've
got a tool building tool here.
It may be that other feats will establish this kind of credibility earlier
and/or more forcefully, but there would still be the gem aspect. I'd be
willing to help, FWIW.

PS: COLA, LOLA, , etc. -- these are all fine -- but before anyone gets in the
habit of using "*OLA", please read up on Shinola.
I will now go back to lurking ;-)
