https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=679030 --- Comment #6 from Kevin Kofler <ke...@tigcc.ticalc.org> 2011-02-21 09:39:09 EST --- I guess that, if the Verdana issue is really a size issue (unfortunately, I can't find the report for that issue anymore), a possible solution would be to check the font's tables for the minimum supported antialiasing size (which is normally the minimum size the hinting bytecode was tested with), and if the requested size is smaller than that, force autohinting (similar to how the auto-autohint patch handles fonts with no bytecode at all).
