Dear font specialists,
I'm working in Tex on a translation into Russian. For this translation I
need special signs for the transcription of Arabic, such as a dot or dash
underneath some cyrillic letters (k, zh, t...). Those letters are not available
in the regular fonts nor in Unicode. I know that \d, \b put dots and dashes
does the trick, but the result is somehow disappointing.
Therefore, I thought of adding the necessary letters to an
existing PostScript font, which in itself is not difficult. The thing that
worries me, is that I don't know which files (atm, of course) more to adapt and
how to call the font from my document. I did a similar trick some
years ago on my Macintosh system, so I have an idea what it takes, but
since I 'm fairly new to Tex... However, I'm not afraid to experiment, as long
as someone would give me some hints as to where to start.
In the same text we also have Arabic, which we can generate by means of
ArabTex. Indeed, our ideal would be something like Mr. Lagally's transliteration
system for Arabic which generates a transcription
of Arabic, albeit in Cyrilllic letters.
