Hi all, I am a KDE/KOffice developer interested in pushing forward on Bengali support specifically, and Indic generally. I (think I) understand the reasons why this is not as simple as adding a few glyphs to the Unicode fonts, but it seems to me that this is the first place to start. To that end, I have started on a set of Bengali glyphs which I would like to donate to XFree86.
Now the rub: I am a complete newbie as far as fonts and font design goes, so I could really use a sanity check that I the glyphs are compatible with XFree86's font standards. I am using the excellent pfaedit program from pfaedit.sourceforge.net and I think I am creating a Type 1 Truetype font (a ".ttf" file) using its auto hinting capability. I can mail either pfaedit's .sfa file or the .ttf file to any interested parties...any takers? All advice and suggestions appreciated!
