I just installed Suse 7.3 and Xfree 3.3.6 (my Cirrus Logic 7555 is not supported by newer version) on a new computer and everything works fine exept that most fonts are displayed as white boxes. The problem must be related to standart font encoding chosen by the X-Server. If e.g. I use a gtk theme which request: --> font = "-*-helvetica-medium-r-normal--10-*-*-*-*-*-*-*" then I get the white boxes. If I change the font request to --> font = "-*-helvetica-medium-r-normal--10-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1" then everything works out fine. But, e.g. for Nedit, I always get white boxes. How do I impose a system wide default for this encoding ? Could anybody help me out? Thanks! Julian Laub P.S.
