FWIW, I've tried to install several bitmap-only TTFs (gen. by
fonttootf) including three of them you made from GNU unifont into Fonts
folder of Windows 2k. Win2k refused to install them complaining that
they are invalid. Given that there are three (possibly conflicting)
standards and that the purpose of fonttootf is to produce fonts to use
with XF86 and freetype, I don't think it's a concern that bitmap-only
fonts generated by fontootf can't get installed under Windows. Anyway,
I'm just posting this result FYI.
