After I installed XFree86 from CVS 20030110 (Mandrake cooker), my mouse cursor
changed from the black one to the white tranluscent with a shadow. The thing
is I want the old black cursor back.

I'm using Mandrake Cooker, xfs and X only. This happens when xdm starts up.

I'm not sure I understand the concept of the fontconfig but, I'd like to know
what causes that.

I looked at this new cursor.pcf.gz but it still contains the black cursor!

I even changed cursor /usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc/cursor.pcf.gz to the file from
the previous (non-transluscent) version, recreated fonts.dir using mkfontdir
and no change.

I saw there were some hacks from Mandrake in Xsession so I commented out every
line that began with xsetroot, then I even temporarily removed xsetroot but
all to no avail.

I'm desperate. The new tacky cursor is a pain - when the text cursor - the I
beam - is transluscent and has a shadow, I don't know which of the 'I's
actually is pointing at the text. Well, some of the pointers (e.g. the hand)
are the old non-shadow ones.

TIA, Jiri
