I vote for the proposal. Also a side note to the P.S. from Helen...tofu actually IS freezable, it's just that the texture is irreversibly changed during the freezing process. The new texture is more (I say this cringing from fear of backlash by the omnivorous crowd out there) "meat-like", and quite interesting to work with. I have a vegan cookbook that devotes a whole section to cooking with frozen tofu. If anyone is interested in more information regarding this I would be glad to pass it on.

PLEASE VOTE ON FOLLOWING PROPOSAL because they are double the price of normal lentils, and because we'd like to support you guys eating good healthy organics, i think we should subsidise staples like organic lentils, biodynamic brown rice, etc, via sales of "non-essential" foods like apricot logs, peppermint carob, licorice, etc. This means we'd be losing a bit of money on the lentils, etc, but this will be balanced by a bigger markup on the junk food. what do people think? it will mean you pay a little more for your "rubbish" (eg peppermint carob $9.90 per kilo instead of $8.04), but you'll be able to get your organic "staples" much cheaper (eg $7.50 for organic brown lentils instead of $9.20). xxxxh PS BULK ORDERS AGAIN: the bulk tempeh can be frozen for at least a year. it comes with a fresh useby of at least 3months unopened bulk pack, and about 1week-10days once you open it. so if you want to get a bulk pack of plain tempeh or tempeh burgers, you can just freeze what you're not going to use in the next week or two, and it will keep in the freezer for about a year. the tofu isn't really freezable, but it does have a 3month useby until you open the pack, after which it lasts about 3 weeks if you wash the tofu every day but DON'T store it in water (it goes slimy faster). Please send me bulk orders by friday. -- ------------------------------------ Helen Armstrong [EMAIL PROTECTED] ph: + 61 2 9385 6904 fax: 9385 7123 School of Mathematics UNSW SYDNEY NSW 2052 If you no longer want to be on this mailing list, please send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe food-co-op in the body text.
