thanks to all who voted. we want this lovely little org to be as democratic as possible, and that's only possible if people do actually speak out.
By overwhelmingly unanimous agreement, this list is to be used ONLY for STRICTLY coop official business. That means ONLY things that are about: 1. roster, if you can't make your shift, if you can cover a shift, etc. 2. general shop (problems, procedures, specials, new product notifications, stock information, etc) 3. distribution of meeting decisions and minutes 4. requests for member input on coop policy issues 5. new projects instigated by management committee, and anything obvious i've forgotten. In particular, the following are NO LONGER OK for distribution, even though they have been OK/tolerated in the past: 1. notification of student or general populace events, demonstrations/rally's (so no more anti-war stuff please helen ;-) 2. notifications of enviro or political events or information of any kind, regardless of whether you believe it affects our members as a whole (eg, whether or not this universe explodes tomorrow will affect us all, but we don't allow research on the probability of the event to be distributed). 3. general food (including nutritional and recipe) information that you think some members might like to know (so no more "fascinating" emails on where to find web information or recipes, please Helen ;-) You'll notice I've been the main offender!! My knuckles are duly wrapped and you'll not see any more unofficial emails from me ;-) xxxxh. ps if in doubt, email your message to me for now, but in the future, the list administrator Rob if he agrees to take on this responsibility.
