hey all
yep the rumours are true.... we need a new meetings coordinator! so what does that involve i hear you ask?
basically the meetings coordinator job is a relatively easy but still important role and involves (suprise surprise as the name suggests)coordinating meetings and therefore playing part in making sure the whole food co op communication thing is happening. so that means sending out notice to the list to people know when the meetings are, sorting the time and place, compiling and sorting out an agenda and making sure there munchies to eat at the meeting if people want them. you dont need to do any scary facilitating or chairing the actual meeting stuff but just take minutes and them type them out and send them out to the list which is really easy cos there's a template which you can follow. meetings are generally held fortnightly but ocassionally it does vary so that things like getting the coop ready for oweek, or a week off cos of exams etc. can happen .
all in all its pretty straightforward and an easy predictable week to week thing and totally doable. dont get scared off by not having done the minutes/meetings thing before - its actually really straightforward and you get a handover and training session or two to make it all makes sense. its a great way of finding out a bit more about how the coop works, how to do and organise stuff cos you get to watch people making things happen, what managment committee does, what goes on to make sure the coop functions smoothly, finding ways to improve things, and getting abit more involved, finding your feet and learning a new skill that can come in very useful. its also the kinda job that enables you to watch other things catalyse and you get to learn how that happens and what is needed to make that happen and therefore gives you those kinda skills too and can help create future opportunities for other things, be they coop related or not.
