Additionally task lists for each person (sorted by alphabetically name) are included at the very end of the minutes to make things easier. Tasks that everyone is responsible for are located at the beginning to the tasks list)
Political Stance of the Shop
The discussion arose from an email questioning whether or not the co-op should shut down when the union shut down to protest VSU. Tanya raised that the co-op acts as an alternative to the system, as such it is a political space, and should be engaged in such activities.
Helen questioned where the line was drawn, whether we should accept every anti-war email, or just those with direct co-op links.
Monika noted that the issue was posed too late, and that to close the shop with one days notice, or to leave it to the people working that day was undemocratic.
Steven raised that the group did make a decision, that they were getting too many emails and that we should set up a separate list.
Tanya raised that we didnt give people enough time to answer, and that now people have felt the effects of no un-coop emails, they may have changed their minds.
Consensus reached, that the coop support the anti VSU campaign, and that we will do what we can to further it in the future.
Action Points
Tanya to post to the list a question of whether or not to reopen the egroup. The decision will have less urgency working greenie time.
Aesthetics
Just to clear things up, Monika isnt getting rid of Bellas labels. We think they are tops!! Just searching for a better way to attach them. And the barrels are fantastic, shop people just have to remember to WIPE the lids, not emerse them in water.
Monika has a full-on summer plan, to make up a product board, and to have hard copies available too. To categorise the shop into grains, snacks etc among other things.
There is a new vege packers roster, more organised leaflets, all in all, things are progressing well.
Helen & Rob
Go under the same category, coz neither of them had much to report. More next meeting.
Roster
We still need vege packers!! Hopefully people will see the new roster and want to be on it. Bella has resigned as a superweed, as has Georgie. Policy has changed in regards to superweeds. Project work is equal to 2 hours of shop work. Hours on top of that receive shop credit. There are currently 5 superweeds.
Herbs Helen has checked the herbs. They all seem to be in order.
Holiday Opening Times
Will definitely open on Tuesday 30th September. Option to open more often, if people email Steven and say that they can make it.
Will close on the public holiday Monday 6th October
Hammock
Rob raised the idea of putting up a hammock for Summer, inviting people to hang out and feel comfortable at the coop. Renata offered that she has a spare one.
Action Points Rob to look into insurance regulations etc. for the hammock
