in summary, there will be no strike, except for the rally 12-2.

Dear UNSW Staff and Students
The Vice-Chancellor wishes staff and students to be aware of the following
order:
Senior Deputy President Duncan of the Australian Industrial Relations
Commission issued the following statement this afternoon:
"The Commission endorses and recommends implementation of the following
joint statement of the parties in this matter:
In the Industrial Commission this afternoon the NTEU and the University have
agreed to the following provisions for work at UNSW on 16 October 2003.
The NTEU have called off strike action including pickets at UNSW on 16
October 2003.
NTEU members will hand out leaflets to staff arriving for work at all gates
on campus but will not in any way prevent staff from coming on campus as
normal.
UNSW is prepared to allow staff to attend the rally through the use of
flexible work time, leave and arrangements, with the agreement of their unit
heads.
UNSW understands that some academic staff will already be aware that their
classes scheduled for times between 12 noon and 2pm may be significantly
depleted, given that students may be attending the rally in the city.
Academic staff should be flexible in ensuring that the educational needs and
expectations of all students are met.
UNSW's expectation is that scheduled teaching outside the hours 12 noon -
2pm will be conducted as normal."
