Agenda
Ruuuuuuude vendors. Continue to patronize or not?
This issue was raised after a phone answerer at "Select" was, ahem, a bit terse. Helen said that she found they were usually okay (but rather busy, and they treated our account favourably) and maybe this person was a ring in for the ring up. Decided that we continue buying from them because they are well priced and because we do not wish to become reliant on one vendor (Nut Stand).
Open during thursdays over the holidays?
Initially we were to be open on Tuesdays over the holidays, but now it will be Thursdays instead (see the vegetables matter later in this exciting issue). After much discussion, it was decided that the shop shall remain open on Thursdays (note its Tuesday for next week during Stuvac) and after the first week of December, or thereabouts, it can be decided whether its worth staying open one day/week for other parts of the holidays.
When the University is actually closed, it is quite unlikely that we'll be open.
Selling stuff at cost?
Helen suggested we start selling some of the more perishable items at cost to ensure we move it before the shop closes. As it turns out this sort of thing had already started happening; there's a list of items that are currently discounted by 35% on the front desk. These items shouldn't be discounted further. There was a comment made that we could try to sell largish quantities of stuff to other shops that might want to use it over our quiet period but others thought they'd rather give it to members of the co-op for (next to) nothing. Additionally, firesale on Wheatgerm, or something, because apparently we have enough to start swimming in it a la Scrooge McDuck.
<insert digression about hotmail here>
Date for end of session dinner
In an attempt to accomodate the lovely Georgie, we are aiming for Monday the 17th or Wednesday the 19th of November. Before she feels bad again, these dates were just as good for everyone else anyway, so stop feeling bad, thanks. bbq.
Steven is leaving!
Steven Shapiro is leaving for a couple of months at the end of the year. So we'll need a new rosterer soon. This makes us :[
Free stuff for permanent workers!
Helen suggested giving people who have done a regular shift this session a credit voucher at the shop. It was voted in unanimously, except for some walrus who was just flying past. Notification of this scheme has been sent along the appropriate avenues.
Vegies over the holidays
Item the first: the vegies receipt/packing day is changing from Tuesday to Thursday for the greater convenience of all! Hurrah for Amamrican Hereos! Item the second: Angie is going to dragoon one of the tables that said vegies gets put on into being a makeshift storage/cover-the-vegetable-boxes device. This will serve two purposes. Firstly, it will protect them from the "elements", which in this case also occasionally includes people dressed much like the Hamburglar. Secondly, it will hopefully mean that people CAN, although they SHOULDN'T, pick their boxes up at more flexible times.
With this new procedure, vegeble orders will need to be in from the masses on Tuesdays so they can be given to the supplier on Wednesday.
Revisiting organic foods.
Back to whether we subsidise organic foods or not. A change in nomenclature resulted in everyone agreeing on "rather than subsidising organic stuff, or hiking the prices of non-organic stuff, we'll just make the mark-ups on the organic stuff less pronounced". Hopefully this is put to bed for now.
