Are you interested in 2 days / 16 hours worth of work available at UNSW

between Monday the 29th and Wednesday the 31st of December?

What's it about?

Each year, as part of UNSW's "unswitch" program, the Green Office runs a

campaign prior to Christmas - encouraging UNSW staff to 'turn off' their

computer/monitor. This year we will be posting emails to various lists

encouraging people to 'switch off' or report 'not switching off' monitors.

For more info on unswitch: http://www.energy.unsw.edu.au/unswitch/

Your role?

Conduct a 'mini energy audit' of UNSW's offices over the Xmas break.

You would visit ppl's offices, accompanied by Michael, the Green Office

plant waterer (who will be watering indoor plants in these offices at the

same time); and a UNSW security guard.

Offices will mostly be empty.

You will 'reward' ppl that have 'switched off' their computers by leaving a

chocolate on their desk. (this means that you will be the most mythical and

popular person on campus for 2004!)

Ppl that have not 'switched off' will receive a kind reminder notice to

make it their habit.

We will also ask you to keep records of/audit the equipment that is on/off

and record the areas that you have visited.

If interested, we may also ask you develop your 'records' into a mini

analysis. This would involve spending up to an extra day to enter your data

onto an excel spreadsheet; and analyse what went on over the break: ie

environmental and cost savings. I will be available to assist you as much

as you like for this.

When?

Visits: From 9am to 3 - 4 or 5 on Monday, Tuesday, and possibly wednesday -

depending on the schedule you work out with Michael.

Briefing: Anytime (except next monday) before Friday the 19th december - at

the green office. Approx 2 hours.

Debriefing: Anytime the week starting Tuesday, january 6.

How much?

At least $18.21 per hour.

Where?

All at UNSW's Kensington Campus

Interested?

If yes, please contact Mim Buchhorn before Tuesday 16th December, end of

the day.

You might also like to mention any experience - work or study- you have

that would assist you do this small job. Doesn't need to be too formal or

fancy - eg. just a dot point list, things like "I can do spreadsheets in

excel"
