HERE HERE!!
as the newly resigned co-ordinator, i'd like to say to ALL MEMBERS (even if you only
joined yesterday)
PLEASE come to fortnightly meetings. danesh circulates the time and agenda.
the coop needs YOUR opinions!!! how else can it be the a true co-operative?
and the management don't know solutions any better than you. when i was on the
management team, i often had no idea what to do, but we had to make a
decision and do something. the more heads the better for coming up
with a decision to suit the majority. and it doesn't matter if your idea ends up
not the one used. if you hadn't voiced it, it couldn't have been "tested" to
see if it was the majority or not. so it needs to be voiced.

Subject: [FOOD_CO-OP] EVERYONE's view counts (that's what being a member of a co-op means :) )
Date: Fri, 23 Apr 2004 17:06:55 +1000
Sorry Ryan, don't mean to single you out or anything so apologies if you feel
that way :)
(and i'm writing this because i used to be unsure whether my view counted or not
- which might seem a bizarre proposition to some of you who know me well ;) )
but i think it's really important that everyone realises that the whole idea of
being a member of a co-op is that you are part of running it :) yes, we have a
management committee - but only because otherwise, nothing would ever happen,
we'd just sit around talking about what we wanted to happen ;)
something that has been an issue at fortnightly meetings for as long as i have
been going is: "can we make this decision? what do the other members of the
co-op think?" and when it gets put to the other members, there is a deafening
silence... which is usually taken for general agreement ;)
so BY ALL MEANS: whether you agree or disagree with something, as a member, YOUR
VIEW COUNTS.
which is why we really need more people to nominate themselves (or others) for
the constitution committee...
AND when it comes to voting for the committee and for the constitution, we really need everyone to vote.
(this goes for meetings, too: they are NOT just for management :) the
participation - or even simply presence - of non-management co-op members will
always be valued :) )
