Hi everyone,

Being on Management Committee or Sub-committee is a great way to extend your
involvement in the Co-op. In no particular order, benefits are: you get to
know other Co-op members better, you get a discount (25% for sub-committee
(40% if you work 1 hr/wk in the shop or equivalent as well); 40% for
management committee), it's a great way to get experience in an area which
most people don't get a chance to experience while at uni, and it looks GREAT
on your CV (not just for retail positions, believe me - and ask me for details
if you don't!). These are not the only benefits - I could go on for ages, as
I'm sure could anyone else who has been a member of the committees. (PLUS:
everyone who comes to a meeting gets free food!!!)

Note that we welcome new members on to the committees. I know many new members
may not yet be on the email list, so if you know anyone in that situation
please pass this message on to them (or nominate them if you think they'd do
well on the committee!).

Anyway, given that there is a meeting Wednesday, votes on any nominees will be
held there - Danesh will stand in as Returning Officer as I can't make it.
Monika has been nominated as Newsletter person (sub-committee) so if you can
make it to the meeting simply to ensure that it is quorate, please do so.

If you would like to nominate yourself OR ANYONE ELSE for any of the positions
still open (see below), please email me or Danesh and/or go to the meeting on
Wednesday. Votes can be held in absentia if you can't make the meeting. Note
that Monika's nomination as Newsletter person does not prevent anyone else
nominating her- or himself or anyone else for that position, it would be
better to make a nomination for Product Research or Cottage Industry - or
better yet, Fundraising Manager!!! Just to share the love a bit... (and fill
positions :) )

Please note that while the job description includes turning up to meetings, if
you can't make meetings it is not the end of the world. Of course, it's better
if you can make at least some of them.

Hope to hear from some of you really soon!
Regards,
Brenda
