Well happy university new year everyone, almost.

On thursday Gem, Rach, Monika, Rob and myself to see what had to be done about the setup of the new shop and also about o-week.
Here's what came out:

New Shop Stuff

The carpenter came in on Friday the 11th to put together the shelves etc, so we now have back places to put stuff. We do however currently have two less shelves than we did last year although maybe we'll see if we can remedy that via the old unwanted furniture place on campus at some stage.

Signs are being painted at some stage; there's going to be one pointing towards us saying, at the least, Thoughtful Foods on it. It will be situated near that building where they have some functions and some exams, i forget its name. Probably X-house though, like every building down there is called. There's also going to be a sign somewhere on the shop, and we also have a fair bit of space to do stuff on our own.

Gem will be here (sorry, I didn't write down if that means at the shop or at the library, i assume library?) and will have the key so if anyone wants to tidy some stuff in the shop, they can get the keys and do so.

Naomi and Monika want to make a poster or some such with a description of the co-op's ethos and put it in the shop's windows or somewhere else plainly visible.

The union has said they don't mind if we have tables and chairs outside the shop ALL THE TIME

The university is about to change its policy on rent and such. They're going to start charging the various Schools and Programs for the space that they use, the upshot of which may be that we lose the little desk with computer and filing space we currently have at the Green Office Program. If this happens we may have to move some of the stuff from there into the new shop, which is a little bigger than before so can possibly be done.

O-Week Stuff

It would be good to put the old voucher things (for Peppermint Carob or Dates as i recall) into the o-week showbags but the discount percentages printed on them are the old ones, so we'll have to change them before we can do embark on such an ambitious undertaking.

We also want to have a stall this year. Things to be there include cottage industry items (cakes and so forth), on the go packs, and advert pamphlets about the co-op and what it does.

The plan currently is to have info nights on Wednesday of O-week (to avoid the roundhouse shenanigans) and also on Tuesdat,Wednesday and Thursday of Week 1. So anyone who knows enough about the co-op to hold an info night and who wants to, do get in touch with probably Gem by the time they happen. Or better yet come to the next meeting (Tuesday 15th)

There's an ecofair happening in Week 2 and we want to have perhaps a BBQ, slthough this time the Guild doesn't want to contribute anything, probably not a huge loss with what happened last time anyway, so we'll just have to up the prices a bit and make sure we buy appropriate quantities of vegetables.

Rach suggested doing them wacky chalk footprints leading to the new shop during o-week, whether this gets done will depend on whether the union allows us to put chalk stuff under cover (the rest of the university doesn't)

Finance Stuff:

We have a bit less $$ to restock with this year because things were very slow towards the end of last year. So basically being able to buy less stuff, it has been suggested that we only buy snack things that will attract new people into the co-op but that we can have placeholders for the regular more grocery-like items that we don't have stock of so everyone knows what we usually have.

Because we don't know how much cash we're going to be intaking at the new shop, and because this is what decides how much we'll be ordering for the next week, Monika wants to do the banking on a weekly basis at the start of the year. This will really only affect the people involved with the banking!

That was basically what was said on Thursday, see another thing probably in your in box right now about the next meeting on Tuesday
