Yo! happy eaters,
this friday it is ON.
a joyful day of riding (or any other form of transport) around the food co-ops of Sydney. we'll get inspired, chat and compare stories with fellow co-opsters as we trundle our bikes around the sydney streets.
A day that will be filled with SUN (for sure it will shine for us), a bit of sweat, laughs and (the most important) lots of good food and company.
food co-op crew from unsw, uts, uws and hopefully sydney uni as well as mel & sev from PACE (pedal australia for clean energy - their riding around oz to raise awareness about climate change) are going on a bit of food co-op field slash food co-op crawl minus the beer to visit a
bunch of different food co-ops around sydney*this* Friday, the 12th of may.
the plan is to meet up at thoughtful foods at unsw at about 11am on friday and then head to the sydney uni food co-op, alfalfa house in newtown, and then back to the uts food co-op before going to circular quay to catch the ferry to manly and check out the manly food co-op.after that is the ferry back into the city all in time to make it back to unsw in time for the oxfam jazz nite at the roundhouse (tickets are $15 for students, $20 for others - all proceeds go to oxfam). the idea is to find out where these places actully are, hang out with funky co-op crew, find out who does what, whats the same, whats different, are there thing's we'd like to take back and adopt at the co-op where involved in and more, to say nothing of the promise of lotsa yummy munchies that will make for a great picnic somewhere along the line.
transportwise - we want to make this as sustainable as possible so at the moment there's lotsa interest in heading up a bike contingent ( ben's going to
coordinate this and is coming up with a plan of exactly where we will ride) with the rest of us taking public transport or if we get access to car/s and
drivers carpooling. (if you can drive and/or have access to a car on friday please let me know!). apart from manly (fun ferry trip!) the coops are pretty
close together so biking is doable especailly as we'll be able to take breaks at each stop and there's always the option of just catching a bus if people are tired.
if your interested in coming along, please let me know so we have an idea of numbers and who's biking, public transporting it or car pooling it if we find cars
([EMAIL PROTECTED], 0414 901 276). obviously you can come for the whole trip, meet us somewhere in the middle or leave early. also check out the list of stuff to bring below and feel free toward this on -the more the merrier!
if you're running late or you cant find us as where between coops or something, just give me a call so i can let you know where we are at the time, and what
coop we are going to next as well as our estimated time of arrival
looking forward to hearing from people soon and seeing you on friday!
