hi all!

a couple of things that are important for the next week

1) reminders about veggies & thursday opening hours
2) no training sessions scheduled for this week only
3) wednesday
4) attn all wednesday shop workers!

1) veggies & thursday opening hours

a reminder to everyone who gets veggies that you need to pick up your box on time. veggie money is due in by the end of tuesday & veggies need to get picked up on tuesday afternoon between 2 & 5pm. co-op policy states that the contents of any boxes remaining at 6pm will be given to needy students or a good cause & will be enforced. if there is a good genuine reason/emergency why you cant pick up your box please call the co-op (9385 6097) as soon as possible or at the latest by 4pm to see if an alternative arrangement can be made for that week only.

a reminder also that the co-op's opening hours on thursday are 9am-6pm which means we are supposed to close at 6pm or just after that. people hanging around and using the co-op as the community space it is is great but please keep in mind that people working in the shop want to be able to leave at a reasonable time too. it would be great if people could do their shopping & then hang out rather than the other way around once it gets close to closing time. it isnt fair to expect the person closing to hang around and wait for you to pick your veggies up or finish your shopping  (or for that matter start doing your shopping) when its close to seven o'clock. there is a whole lot of cleaning that needs to happen on thursdays which happens after we close and generally takes around an hour which can make thursday a very long day for co-ordinators if it drags out given that they get to the co-op between 8 & 830am.

2) no scheduled training session for this week only

there will be no training sessions for this week only. training sessions normally run at 12 & 3pm on tuesday & wednesday & this will resume from next week (wk 8, starting tuesday 12th september). its crazy uni work due time so there's more gaps in the roster, people cancelling etc. & i'll need time to prep for wednesday this week on tuesday (see below). no one is down for a training session as far as i know at this point so if you would like to get trained that can happen after this week. if your working in the shop & people ask when training is, please tell them the normal training sessions (12 & 3 tuesday & wednesday) will be running again from week 8 onwards.

2) wednesday
i also wanted to let people know i wont be in this wednesday cos i have an exam but i will in be in on thursday (that said helpers on crazy thursday are always appreciated! especially as  shannon is still overseas). at the moment the roster is looking pretty good so it should all go fine, fingers crossed. it does mean that i wont be there to cover gaps on wednesday so we might be closed 5-15 minutes between hours due to people having to get from the co-op to class etc. and vice versa. it also means that if people dont show up or cancel we will be closed. my appologies but i really need to cram for my exam & have done my best to try & get the roster full so we can still be open. thanks for understanding.

4) attn all wednesday shop workers!
i wont be in the shop on wednesday but there will be a list of stuff that needs doing on in the diary or on a piece of paper near the diary so please tick off stuff when you've completed it so people know where we are up to. there are also no deliveries arriving this wednesday so people dont need to worry about how to deal with those. the till will already be logged on, float counted in etc.  & you dont need to close the till & do the reconcile on wednesday night as i'll do it first thing thursday morning. however it is really important that the cleaning stuff happens - details will be in the list of things to do.

importantly -
if the till or scales beep at you & stuff, check out the how to book or the notes in the diary.

if you are working in the shop and need to leave for class etc. and the next person hasnt turned up yet or there is a gap the next hour dont panic - instructions for what to do are in the how to do stuff book. basically you open the register, take out the coop key, push the till closed, move the clothes etc inside, turn off the lights, lock the door & take the keys to blockhouse reception.

if you rock up to your shift and find a closed door you basically do this in reverse - get coop keys from the blockhouse (you may need to sign them out), unlock the door, move the clothes & stuff outside, turn on the lights, open the till, put the key inside & you are ready to start!

thanks for taking the time to read this email.  hope you all have a fantastic week.

yours in exam crammingness
Monika
