Hi all,

As most of you now know, we will be continuing the fruit and veggie boxes over
the summer holidays. Keeping the shop open and running smoothly requires quite
a lot of time and energy. So as to ensure that the bulk of this work does not
fall on one or two people, we are implementing the "volunteer for veggies"
scheme to run over the summer holidays. This way, we can ensure that the shop
runs smoothly even while most of our student volunteers are away. This scheme
will last from 28 November until 2 March (when students return).

If you do plan to order veggies over the summer, we ask that you either:
1. Volunteer 1 hour for every two orders you put in, or
2.Contribute a sum of $12.50 for every two orders (this is the equivalent of
$50 if you order over the entire summer). This is explained further below.

The "volunteer for veggies" scheme will work in the following way. From the
28th of November, we will keep track of everyone who orders a fruit and veggie
box. After you have ordered twice, you will be required to volunteer for 1
hour. If you haven't volunteered before and don't really know what volunteering
involves, it includes a whole lot of different thing like:

-Helping pack the veggie boxes
-Being in the store to help pack stock, serve customers, help clean, etc
-Kid-friendly working bees
-Proofreading emails and other documents
-Data entry of stock and finances.

So there is something for everyone! Volunteering is also great fun and we're
sure that as
well as helping keep the co-op going over summer, you'll meet some awesome
people and enjoy yourself. And for all those seasoned co-op vollies, think of
this as a way to stay in touch with your inner co-op spirit over the long
summer break when you'll otherwise be missin the co-op goodness vibe!

For those of you who do not have the time to volunteer, we ask that you
contribute $12.50 for every two orders. We included this option so as to allow
those who work full time or have other commitments to contribute too. This
money will go to our O-week slush fund, and will allow us to print up new
advertising material so we can attract new, enthusiastic volunteers to join
next year. If you know that you cannot volunteer, can you please let me know if
you plan to contribute cash?

We hope this isn't too much to ask, but from the perspective of fairness, we
are striving to
work out a way to equitably share the workload to keep the co-op open and
provide veggies over summer when most of the regular volunteers are away from
uni

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me or anyone else on the
management committee.

Thanks,
Shannon, Monika & the management committee
