Philip, I don't have a work around, but I just reported this problem myself. It seems to be a general problem with fo:inline processing as I have experienced the same thing working with marker values as well as page number citations.

I am generating a table of contents using a table, and wish to right align the page numbers. If the table of contents appears at the beginning of the document, the numbers don't get right-aligned, but if the table of contents appears at the end of the document then they get aligned correctly. > > What appears to be happening is that if a forward reference is made to a page citation then fop doesn't know how big the page number will be and doesn't allocate any area for it. If the page number is known, then the space it allocates is known and correct alignment can occur. > > I've had a look at org.apache.fop.fo.flow.PageNumberCitation and this seems to bear up to the analysis. > > Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so, do you have a work-around? > > Phil. > > > > -- > > This e-mail may contain confidential and/or privileged information.
