FWIW, I am not opposed to having FOray use Commons Logging instead of a home-grown interface. But that is actually an external dependency as well, so that was not an option. And from the standpoint of a component developer, you have to ask yourself how often you can afford to switch from Avalon to Commons to ... It would (maybe) help some if java itself would endorse an interface for this purpose. Victor Mote
