The element for foreign xml is instream-foreign-object. You can put svg or any other xml markup in their. The processor, ie FOP, then needs to have a handler for that xml. Currently it has a handler for batik. The redesigned FOP has an extension that has a handler for mathml that converts the mathml into svg.
