I agree with your sentiments, though it is indeed a nice design. I'm no artist, but what about a play on the word fop/foppish (as in a dandy)? There are nice images of fops at http://www.theonion.com/onion3011/foppish.html and http://www.nadablog.com/blog/000098.html which could be inspiration.
