As for overflow, I don't think the overflow (as it relates to fo:table-cell & fo:table-column) is well-developed in FOP.
There is no mechanism to overflow columns of a too-wide-a-table onto another page in XSLFO (might get into XSLFO 1.1. or 2.0.)
