Well, if you want to be able to use JSPs and Tag libraries _unchanged_, then it would be very hard indeed. I was thinking about some mechanism that is as similar to regular JSP as possible while throwing away all the http stuff and which doesn't try to be compatible where that would be too hard to do. My impression is that, again, we're thinking along the same lines. Perhaps it would be possible to persuade some Jasper developer that teaching Jasper to alternatively do what you described in your mail could be a worthwhile project.
