I am one step further:

It's about gnome-spell + aspell + aspell-XX, and they version of
gnome-spell is not up-to-date in the FSL repos. There is actually
gnome-spell=1.0.6-7-0.1 installed, but the Evolution FAQ tells:

-----
Please also note that many languages need gnome-spell >= 1.0.7 to be
supported by Evolution.
-----

I am not sure, if that really causing the problem, but it's my best bet.

BTW gconf -> GNOME -> Spell -> language only has the entry "en-US",
whereas it should contain a space separated list of installed languages.
Is aspell-XX supposed to update that gconf key automatically, or is
there any other mechanism supposed to do that?
