Hi,
OSUOSL is doing some maintenance reboots next Friday. This is separate
from the reboots later today (which should only impact the osuosl-arm
and osuosl-arm-2 builders). This one (next week) should mostly not
impact us, except for the gcc fortran MatterMost workspace.
We will reboot the forge(-stage) and some builders for the same issue
later today. This should only take a couple of seconds.

Service(s) affected: the OSL-hosted services listed below, each down about
5 minutes once while its server reboots
We will reboot the servers behind the services listed below one at a time
to fix a new Linux kernel flaw, CVE-2026-98432. Many of these services were
also rebooted on October 30 for Fragnesia (CVE-2026-46300). This is a
different flaw, and its fix was released on November 2, after those
reboots, so they need one more. The Nura and U-Boot GitLab instances can
take longer to come back. Our FTP mirrors are rebooted one at a time, so
ftp.osuosl.org keeps serving throughout. OSL's mail relays, DNS servers and
load balancers are rebooted with their partners still serving, so mail,
name service and web traffic stay up.
Outage Window:
Start: Friday, Nov 13, 10:00AM PST (Fri Nov 13 1800 UTC)
End: Friday, Nov 13, 1:00PM PST (Fri Nov 13 2100 UTC)
Reason for outage:
The update fixes CVE-2026-98432, the critical remote flaw in the Linux
kernel's TCP code described in our earlier notice on the status page. The
kernels we installed for Fragnesia (CVE-2026-46300) don't include this fix.
A firewall rule has blocked it on these servers since November 1, and the
fixed kernels are already installed, so a reboot is the only step left. VMs
that projects manage themselves are not restarted; please update and reboot
those yourselves. Our CI runners and some OSL services reboot the day
before, on Thursday, November 12, under a separate notice.
Projects affected: phpBB, Linux Foundation (including FOSSology),
lists.osuosl.org, OSRF / ROS, Snowdrift.coop, OpenPOWER Foundation, Nura,
U-Boot, Deluge, OpenMRS, Mozillazine, Apereo, OGRE, Buildroot, Inkscape,
GFortran, SeaGL, Cinc, OpenID Foundation, Replicant, Mulgara, StreamWebs,
our shared web hosting and WebDAV, our Etherpad and container registry,
projects hosted for CASS Software Development Group (SDG), and our FTP
mirrors.
