either way, why use us-ascii? try iso8859-1

supposedly there is a iso8859-15 that supports euro char natively, but it doesnt
show all accented chars fine in most browsers

either way, in iso8859-1 you actually can write most accented chars as-is,
without having to write á and so, and as far as i've tried, most browsers
will show euro char perfectly fine if you write it directly in that charset
