As a non-Anglosaxon, I am using the "US International" keyboard layout. This
allows for so-called "dead keys". E.g. I can type a double quote (") followed by
an 'a' or an 'o' to produce an 'ä' or an 'ö'. If a real quote is needed, I
have to type the quote followed by a space. This works fine in all software
packages.
Most software accepts Shift + space just the same as space without shift. So
when I have to type several characters all of which are to be quoted separately
(like "A", "A", "A", etc.), I cal just keep the shift key down.
In PS Pad however, there is a little problem. When I keep Shift pressed after
typing the double quote ("), and then a space, the space is indeed produced, but
the quote is left in the buffer and is produced only when a non-space character
is typed.
(The problem occurs with all shifted dead keys, like ~ (tilde), ^ (circumflex),
etc. Single quote is not shifted and therefore does not really has this
problem.)
I am using PS Pad 4.5.3 on Windows XP Professional SP2. I am mostly using PS Pad
in the "PHP" mode.
Does anyone know how I can talk PSPad into handling quote + space the way all
other software does, i.e. ignoring the Shift key when the spacebar is hit?
