I use the menu item Edit | Lines Manipulation | Remove Redundant Spaces...
with From End of Lines checked and assign the key command Ctrl-Shift-C to it. (what I used in another editor) Unfortunately, it prompts you, so you have to press Enter or click OK. I use it before every "final save" or when I think about it. You also might be able to make a Macro to do it, but it would require a key press. Other than that, you would have to make a Script, but I don't know if you could make it automatically do it before a save. I think the way it works with the No Spaces at EOL turned on and deletes all the way back to the beginning of the line when you are simply trying to do some editing is a BUG.
