I figured it out It was only happening to files on my desktop which is where I had originally created a password protected file in 7 zip
If you right click on the folder and choose properties - advanced - then uncheck Encrypt contents to secure data Not sure why Windows 11 checked this box because I have never encrypted files Anywho, problem is not a PSPad issue, it is a Windows issue -- <https://forum.pspad.com/read.php?2,79070,79072> PSPad freeware editor https://www.pspad.com
