Steve,
The only path I know might be on Orcad's website. They used to offer a
free Cadence / Orcad translator. In which case you can try an Orcad to
Protel import. How well it works, I don't know. A double
translation....risky. I know of no other method
Good Luck, God's speed

Subject: [PEDA] Cadence File Translation
Hi Team,
I have a customer who needs to translate some Cadence PCB & Schematic files
into Protel 99 SE format.
>From what I understand, the files he has are in a Cadence binary format,
and to have any chance of converting them he needs to save them as ASCII
files from within Cadence.
I have already referred him to RSI, and at this stage they have not been
able to help him because the files are binary and not ASCII.
Ideally, the customer would like to speak to a Cadence user in the US who
would be willing to re-save these files in an ASCII format. He also wants to
explore the possibility of saving these files in other formats from within
Cadence to see if this makes translation easier. He is more than willing to
pay a fee to have these files translated, but cannot find anybody willing to
help him.
The sale of a number of Protel 99 SE seats depends on successful translation
of these files.
Does anybody have any contacts using Cadnece, or any suggestions as to how
we can help this customer?
Thanks
Steve
Best regards,
