Duane,
I didn't quite understand your comment about the file being "an
unknown file". I can and sometimes do copy print servers from one file to
another and the only item I have to deal with is specifying what is the
target PCB it should print from in the new DDB file.
The problem that I find with this is that our completed files are
stored on the network and there are so many variations that I am not always
sure which file to copy from to get the print type that I want. I also do
not like opening files directly from the network storage area because it
messes up the file date stamps on the file you opened even if you didn't
change anything. To get around that I must copy the files to my work area
and then open them, drag the printserver out, close the file and then delete
the one I just copied. Including file open and closing times, copying and
deleting, sometimes that process just doesn't seem fast enough either,
especially with large files and their open/compressing time delays.
Therefore, sometimes it seems more appropriate to just start a new
print server as cumbersome as it is. I would just like to see the
improvement to the printserver start-up where it calls a wizard similar to
the CAM server and you select your print type and configure it without
waiting to undo what the printserver does automatically on its own.
