Brian,
I just wanted to say a big Thank-You in advance. I haven't had time to try
out your new stuff yet, but I certainly appreciate your efforts for some
very practical small items that I can use. Although I don't use spiral
inductors, I know I will find the bitmap converter a great boon for a
variety of purposes, and I have always wanted a smooth trace size
transition generator. I'm quite anticipative of what you will come up with
next in the RF area :)
I also want to say thanks to Ian & Geoff who I know have expended
incredible effort in the writing of numerous servers.
Apologies to anyone else who has written this sort of thing before and I
wasn't paying attention. I often don't have time to read the entire deluge
of message we get here on this forum, much less respond in a way that would
be useful to many. Hence my one-liners when motivated by frustration.
Let me say that I think what people like Abulrahman, Ian, Geoff, and all
the others are doing is practically Saintly- thoroughly, correctly and
quickly answering virtually any post on any question. I just don't know
how on earth you guys have time to do that. Especially Mr. Lomax; you must
spend the better portion of each day reading/answering posts. You are
Protel's greatest assets, and should all receive free licences at the least
for such great efforts, IMHO.
One other thing, since my work is probably 50% S-band RF, my thoughts on
how well Protel's lends itself to RF design shouldn't be repeated in
public. Suffice to say that I hope they decide that this is something
people out there users are doing so we can get some tools/support in this
area. If they were to make Protel RF friendly, they could really clench
the market, since no one else seems to be interested for less than 100
Kilobucks. One thing that I would like to see is the ability to put
grounded vias/plane area in footprints, for example. Would sure make
things faster for me. How about the general ability to assign nets to
primitives in footprints? Anyone ever thought about recursive parts where
we can nest a given footprint inside another?
Thanks,
Frank
