Subject: Re: [PEDA] Quickly checking sync status between PCB & schematic
Howdy,
CAD to CAM checks were never considered at my previous employer until the issue came
up because of the gerber produced by my current employer. It is now a relatively
inexpensive standard my previous employer implements. Did I need to say, "The service
bureau that I am currently employed at, paid for the NRE due." ?
The cost of the IPC netlist and gerber verification can be included in the design of
the board. I think it benefits all who are involved.
The following is the history behind my BS;
When I sent the first layout that Jardon did for Talon to house, the rep called back
and asked if I wanted the IPC netlist check done. I had no clue, asked my boss, then
the rep - what he meant. I believe that at that time, I posted and/or replied to
similar topics in both Protel's EDA and the SI-LIST, and then schooled my boss about
CAD2CAM while informing him that Jardon had included a file necessary to have it done.
My previous employer decided not to pay for something they never needed before. I
informed them of the rep's response; "Most customers don't pay for it until they get
burned." Well guess what,..?
Cheers and thanks for your time,
Drew
