i will second that. "Herculean" is, IIRC, the word which has historically
been used in this context.

What i cannot say is whether or not the existing libfossil code would
easily amendable to the v2 changes. It would _not_ be a simple hacking
session, of that i'm sure, but i can't estimate how big of an investment it
would be, except to say "big". :/ i also can't say if/whether i'll ever be
able to personally undertake it - i'm still wading through non-invasive
back treatments, which the doctors demand that we exhaust before they
finally give up and operate on me (none of the non-invasive treatments has
held up long so far). After that (whenever it happens), i have no idea how
long i'll be on my back in recovery, or whether i'll ever again be able to
spend 12+ hours/day hacking :/.

So... volunteers would be more than welcomed :).
