I think I still prefer the old style as well, but I'm not sure if that is just habit bias or an actual preference. It seems that the old style conveys more information at the expense of using more space, while the new saves space at the expense have having less information. But maybe that information isn't really useful? Also, it brings back bad memories of gitk and its inability to handle certain merge scenarios which result in disconnected graphs.
