When some arbitrary decision/value such as a minimum length of wiki pages imposes itself for no rational reason on my workflow, and I'm told by the maintainer to maintain a separate personal branch rather than this being changed in the main source, I started leaving my Richard Hipp fan club card at home. (Which I have carried for several years now)
Then when I come across something which distorts my source code repository and report it, and am patronized with remarks about my "passion" for the issue, I become frustrated. My ass is on the line having strongly advocated Fossil in my enterprise. I have not intended to be rude to Mr. Hipp, however I acknowledge my frustration could be better concealed. I will gladly pay, given I don't have the C ability yet myself, to have this issue fixed. If anyone is interested in a bounty, please speak up and I'll articulate what I believe would be the correct behavior in this case. ^K on Dec 17, 2012, Themba Fletcher <themba.fletc...@gmail.com> wrote: > >On Mon, Dec 17, 2012 at 12:58 PM, K <k...@lightpowered.org> wrote: >> >> If you cannot provide justification for this behavior <snip> >> > >I'm a bit confused by the tone of some of the messages on the list lately. > >This could have as easily been worded as a polite bug report, but >instead comes across as aggressive and intellectually challenging. >There seem to be a lot of people ready to tell Richard that he's doing >it wrong lately, and I am starting to resent it. > >I could silently unsubscribe of course, but that misses the point. >He's incredibly responsive to requests on here, and abuse leveled >directly at the primary maintainer of a piece of software does nothing >but make reading the list a job rather than a pleasure for him, to the >detriment of all of us in the end.
