Hi folks,
I've been trying out Fossology and have a pretty good idea what we can do with it. What
my question is, "are there recommendations on how to use Fossology in open source
projects?". I think what we'd want to do is say we are releasing a product under a
particular license and to somehow use fossology to help verify that the software
contained within the product is compatible with the product license. For instance, the
linux kernel is released as GPLv2. We'd want to insure that all the code we release as
part of the linux kernel is compatible with GPLv2. Another practice we'd want to follow
is say we are releasing a product under some proprietary license. Then we'd want to run
the software contained in that product through fossology and validate its compatibility
with the proprietary license.
I didn't see that fossology has any ability to validate compatibility of
licenses. Am I looking at this wrong? What do others do.
