Dear all, As many of you will be aware, Christian Hergert recently stepped down from the GNOME Foundation Board. As a result, we've had a place on the board to fill. In these situations, the bylaws [1] state that the Board of Directors may choose a replacement of their choosing [2].
As your elected representatives, the board has a responsibility to put the best interests of the Foundation first, and to ensure that the Foundation runs as effectively as possible. The board has spoken to a number of people and reviewed the available candidates in order to find the best person for the position. We are very happy to announce that Alexandre Franke will be joining us with immediate effect. Alexandre has a strong track record of getting things done, not least for GUADEC and the localization team. His enthusiasm and commitment to GNOME is well known. We think that he will make an excellent addition to the board. Welcome Alexandre, and thank you for agreeing to take on this position! We look forward to working together in the year ahead.
