As author of those examples, I think they are actually too intricate. For my courses I use much simpler examples. They are downloadable from ftp://ftp.linux.it/pub/People/rubini/samplecode/smallsample26-1.2.tar.gz I think I'll have a new release soon, as some of them broke with new kernels (e.g., interrupt handling) and I'm starting a new course in October.
