That's because you have to flash it as root, if you carefully read the error message, that is what it says.
depending on your Linux distro, type something like su or sudo bash to become root, then type the remainder: . init_env boot_linux -F -i fimage Also make sure the jumper J8 is on before flashing, and it should work.
