We have been running SAMBA on a number of production Foxboro AP-50s, AW-51s
etc and different flavors of UNIX systems for many years. Typical
application is to share make server-generated files available to PC users,
up to and including real-time trend data files for thousands of points.
Works great, its free and can be configured to meet a wide range of needs.

Just adding to Chris' list.

We implemented SAMBA in our lab to address this issue and as one of my folks
puts it, "I don't know how we worked before." Try www.sunfreeware.com
<http://www.sunfreeware.com> for SAMBA and buy a book.

Of course,

Foxboro does not test or support the use of SAMBA on I/A Series equipment.

        Subject: Re: Solaris floppy utility

If this utility isn't availabel, there are
        alternatives.

1: Sun boxes can read PC formatted floppies. So you
may wish to do the reverse.

2: Are you sure you have a Unix formatted floppy and
not a tar disk? These are different. If you have a
tar disk, try tar'ing to your Sun's hard drive then
copying the file to a PC floppy (see 1).

3: If the two machines are networked, the simplest
approach is to ftp files back and forth. More
sophisticated is to try an NFS client/server approach.
This is a file sharing that allows you to mount
between Windows and Unix. A quick search revealed a
        shareware version: <http://www.xlink.com/> However, I
        haven't used this particular one.

4: If you really want to use the Sun formatted floopy,
then hopefully someone else has this utility.
